The Institute was established by Ministerial Resolution No. 1169 of 1999 and is subject to the supervision of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research in accordance with the regulations and laws governing this. The Institute grants a bachelor's degree in (Tourist guidance, tourism studies, and hospitality management) and all degrees are accredited by the Supreme Council of Universities and equivalent to the scientific degrees granted to Egyptian universities.
The duration of the study at the Institute is four years of study. The Institute awards a bachelor’s degree in one of the following majors: (Tourist guidance, tourism studies, and hospitality management) This qualification shall be approved by the Minister of Higher Education. Professional Diploma in Tourist Guidance, the duration of the study is two years.
The conscientious management of the institute and its board of directors, which includes a group of Egypt’s best scholars and experts, monitors and develops the performance and curricula of the institute in its three departments (hotel studies, tourism studies and tourism guidance), which made the institute obtain the equivalence of a bachelor’s degree granted by what is awarded by the faculties of tourism and hotels in universities. Egypt in record time with the graduation of the first batch of the Institute, and even went beyond that, as the Institute now grants a postgraduate diploma in tourism guidance to graduates of Egyptian universities and recognized higher institutes, which will have the greatest impact on human and tourism development in the region.
Tourism and hotel science, with its various specializations, is in the field of hotel establishments, companies, and tourist attractions. Egypt is undoubtedly one of the richest nations with its antiquities and natural reserves, and Luxor is part of that country. For this reason, the establishment of a higher institute for tourism and hotels in Luxor was a scientific necessity for the institute to open its scientific doors to its students, welcoming and encouraging to achieve development plans. tourism and putting science at its service. Hence, the objectives of the institute are as follows:
Assisting in achieving educational goals in accordance with the study plans and curricula approved by the Supreme Council for Private Institutes Affairs.
Participation in realizing development plans and putting science at its service.
Graduating cadres with a bachelor’s degree in tourism and hotel studies and tourism guidance who are scientifically and practically qualified.
Assisting those who hold higher degrees and are linguistically qualified to obtain a diploma in tourism guidance to graduate cadres of tourist guides who are scientifically qualified to practice the profession of tourism guidance in various linguistic disciplines.
Participate in achieving tourism development plans in the field of tourism guidance.
To meet the current and future needs of Luxor and southern Egypt for tour guides to accompany the growing groups of tourists to these areas in Upper Egypt.
The student must obtain one of these certificates:
1. General secondary school with its two divisions and the equivalent of Arab and foreign certificates.
2. Secondary commercial diploma system 3 or 5 years.
3. Diploma in Technical Schools for Management and Services.
4. Diploma in secretarial institutes.
5. Diploma of (Egoth Hotel Institute) Diploma of hotel schools affiliated with "Egoth" company accredited by the Ministry of Education.
6. Diploma of hotel technical institutes.
7. Diploma in Maritime Hotel System 3 or 5 years.
8. Diploma in Hotel secondary schools, 3-year system.
9. Technical diplomas (tourism - hotels - guidance) The 5-year system accepts students in the second year according to specialization (except the department of tourism guidance).
The student must pass the general aptitude test, which show his suitability to work in the tourism and hotel field.
The medical examination must approve that he is free of infectious diseases and is fit to continue the study.
Have good conduct and good reputation.
Every student nominated at the institute must register his name in the institute and may not register his name in more than one institute at the same time.
The student must be a full-time student at the institute.
The student must pay the prescribed tuition fees.
A student may not be re-enrolled in the institute to obtain a certificate that he previously obtained.
A student may not be re-enrolled to obtain another certificate from a similar institute.
